IPL Fantasy Cricket Tip #22: SRH v RPS

The teams: Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rising Pune Supergiants. Warner has been SRH’s standout performer and the team will be happy that Dhawan has spent some time in the middle over the last 2 games. Even though he has been a little scratchy, it is important that Dhawan is playing himself back into form as he is a crucial part of SRH’s campaign. Expect some tricky selection choices for SRH in the near future as both Yuvraj and Nehra are close to full fitness. RPS, on the other hand, lost once again in the last over to KKR and will be doing some serious soul-searching. With KP out for the whole tournament through injury, the other foreign players Perera, Faf, Smith and Albie Morkel will have to do the bulk of the work for this team.

The Venue: Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. Although the wicket here is considered a flat track, both matches played here saw teams scoring only in the 140s and the 150 barrier has not been broken yet. Expect some fireworks at this ground

IPL Fantasy Cricket Tip #21: KXIP v MI

The teams: Kings XI Punjab v Mumbai Indians. Despite having played more games than any other team, the current champions MI are in 6th place with just 2 wins from 6 games, while KXIP are at the bottom of the table with 1 win from 5. Both sides came into the 2016 IPL with a lot of expectations, and although it’s still early in the tournament, they will both need to execute a turnaround quickly if they want a chance to make the knockout stage. Unfortunately, only one team will breathe a sigh of relief after KXIP v MI. Expect both sides to tinker with their playing XI as they search for the perfect combination.

The Venue: IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Traditionally a wicket which assists seamers, M Ashwin, Sunil Narine, and Pardeep Sahu have all taken wickets here this year, suggesting another spin-friendly wicket is in store for us.

IPL Fantasy Tips 19 and 20: GL v RCB and RPS v KKR

The IPL show carries on Sunday Fun-day! The next double-header sees four great teams in action -Gujarat Lions, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rising Pune Supergiants and Kolkata Knightriders. This post will cover both GL v RCB and RPS v KKR.

Match tip #17: GL v RCB

The teams: Gujarat Lions v Royal Challengers Bangalore. Raina against Kohli. After three consecutive wins at the start, GL were brought crashing down to earth by SRH, losing by 10 wickets. RCB defied the trend (and a rollicking partnership between Thisara Perera and Rajat Bhatia) to win their last game against RPS after batting first. Both teams are near the top of the table but neither will want to slip-up at this stage of their campaigns. Expect a hard fought, competitive game.

The Venue: Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. GL have won one game and lost one game at their home venue. With another decent batting wicket expected, the captain winning the toss will be looking to chase. The master of the chase, Virat Kohli, will really be hoping he wins his first toss this IPL – he has lost four in a row!

IPL Fantasy Tips #17 and #18: DD v MI and SRH v KXIP

Can you believe it’s already the second weekend of the IPL? You know what weekend means – double trouble! This post will have fantasy cricket tips for both the games on Saturday.

Match tip #17: DD v MI

The teams: Delhi Daredevils v Mumbai Indians. India’s 2 biggest cities, yet their IPL franchises have taken noticeably different paths over the last 8 years. Coming into 2016, DD invested in youth, and MI, the  reigning champions, continued to rely on marquee players. At this stage, DD and MI have the same number of points despite MI having played 2 games more. MI, however, are coming off a big win against RCB and are a dangerous side once they get on a roll.

The Venue: Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Amit Mishra spun his way to a match-winning 4 wickets against KXIP in the previous game here. Expect both teams to rely on their spinners, and want to bat second as has been the case in most games so far this year.

IPL Fantasy Tip #16 – RPS v RCB

The teams: Rising Pune Supergiants v Royal Challengers Bangalore. Dhoni v Virat. RPS want to forget their last game against GL, which they lost by 7 wickets. Although Faf Du Plessis has played his part in all 3 games, Dhoni will be hoping that both KP and Steve Smith find their mojo as their success is crucial to RPS’s campaign. RCB will also want to get back to winning ways after their loss to MI on Wednesday. Two consecutive losses will not please the RCB skipper, Virat Kohli.

The Venue: The MCA International Stadium in Pune. Pune will host its first game of the IPL 2016 on Friday and RPS will be looking to make an impact in front of its home crowd. This venue has not held any test matches and has hosted only 1 ODI and 2 T20s. The most recent match played here was a T20 between SL and India where a young Sri Lankan pace attack stunned the strong Indian batting line up. If that match is anything to go by, expect a quick track!
