IPL Fantasy Cricket Tips #55 and 56: KKR v SRH & RCB v DD

It’s all to play for! The last Super Sunday until next year’s IPL sees two stupendous games – KKR v SRH and RCB v DD. While most people are facing fantasy fatigue, some of you will be worried about getting fantasy withdrawal symptoms. Make the most of the last 6 games of the tournament!

Match tip #55: KKR v SRH

KKR find themselves in a must-win situation and they will look to their opening pair to fire them through to the top 4. The Uthappa – Gambhir partnership was really solid up front but has not really clicked in the last few games. For SRH, Warner would want to push the pedal to the metal to ensure his team ends up in the top 2 so that they give themselves at least two opportunities to make it to the final.

The Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The surface is slow and the spinners can expect to find some joy. KKR has won 3 and lost 3 games here this season and will be looking to make amends after their last loss to RCB here.

Match Tip #53: RPS v KXIP

The teams: Rising Pune Supergiants vs Kings XI Punjab (RPS V KXIP). The most anti-climactic start to this big weekend, these are unfortunately the only two teams with no chance of a playoff spot. That said, both are tied at the bottom with 8 points, which means the loser ends in last (8th) place, so there is something to play for. Plus of course all points are equal when it comes to fantasy league cricket! RPS will have a slight edge, having just beaten the strong Delhi Daredevils, while KXIP suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Kohli who seems truly unstoppable this season. Captain MSD will want to prove he still has something to bring to the table.

The Venue: Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakapatnam. After a high scoring game, the most recent game was rain curtailed and saw both sides batting at just about 6 runs/over. Expect some help for the quick bowlers.

The teams: Delhi Daredevils v Sunrisers Hyderabad (DD v SRH). SRH have all but secured their playoff spot by this point, while DD have lost their way after a great start to the season and sit precariously in sixth place. With just two matches remaining for each side, SRH will want to cement their berth in the top two. DD, meanwhile will need to win at least one of their two remaining matches – most likely both – by a noticeable margin. Dravid & Co. may just have pushed their luck too far with rotating the playing XI. Too often this season, DD have dropped players who were performing well and it looks like this may have hurt their campaign.

The Venue: Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. The ‘second home’ stadium of the Daredevils, DD will be hoping their luck changes here. There may be some grass on the wicket given it is Raipur’s first IPL game this year, but we still expect a flat track that will help the batsmen.

IPL Fantasy Cricket Tips #51: GL v KKR

GL v KKR

The teams: Gujarat Lions v Kolkata Knight Riders (GL v KKR). Both teams ran into the Kohli-ABDV show in their last games. GL were on the receiving end of two centuries as RCB posted the highest total of the IPL so far against them. The bowlers of both teams should have recovered from their mauling by RCB and will want to bounce back strongly. Although Russell is injured and will not play this game, in Shakib and Yusuf Pathan, KKR still have have two in-form all rounders. Both teams will want to the win to secure a spot in the top 4 so expect a high intensity encounter.

The Venue: Green Park in Kanpur. The first game at this venue in the 2016 IPL so far and interestingly enough there hasn’t been an international T20 game played here before. In the last ODI here between India and SA, SA narrowly won by 5 runs after posting 303 on the board despite a hundred by Rohit Sharma (150 off 133).

IPL Fantasy Cricket Tips #50: RCB v KXIP

RCB v KXIP

The teams: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Kings XI Punjab (RCB v KXIP). RCB has surged with three consecutive wins, taking them ahead of Delhi into fifth place. RCB’s big three have finally arrived at the same party, and as KKR witnessed firsthand, if Gayle, ABdV and Virat all fire, no total is too big enough. KXIP on the other hand are now mathematically out of contention for a playoff spot, so are just here to try and ruin RCB’s chances. Having just sent Maxwell home with an injury, KXIP may use the opportunity to test their bench strength.

The Venue: M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Bowlers will be running for cover; this track is flat and the small boundaries will mean that the batsmen will be licking their lips. Don’t forget the last game here saw a record-breaking 229 run partnership between ABdV and Kohli and for the first time in IPL history, two batsman made centuries in the same innings.
