The teams: Delhi Daredevils v Sunrisers Hyderabad (DD v SRH). SRH have all but secured their playoff spot by this point, while DD have lost their way after a great start to the season and sit precariously in sixth place. With just two matches remaining for each side, SRH will want to cement their berth in the top two. DD, meanwhile will need to win at least one of their two remaining matches – most likely both – by a noticeable margin. Dravid & Co. may just have pushed their luck too far with rotating the playing XI. Too often this season, DD have dropped players who were performing well and it looks like this may have hurt their campaign.
The Venue: Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. The ‘second home’ stadium of the Daredevils, DD will be hoping their luck changes here. There may be some grass on the wicket given it is Raipur’s first IPL game this year, but we still expect a flat track that will help the batsmen.
Our picks for your fantasy teams
Yuvraj Singh – After a quiet first few outings, Yuvraj showed why he is still a fan favourite with a blistering innings against KXIP. Set a target of 180, Yuvi walked in to bat with 83 needed off just 47 balls, and took SRH home with ease. His 42* off just 24 balls included 3 sixes and 3 fours, and his return to form will make the DD bowlers nervous.
Mustafizur Rahman– He swings it. He seams it. He bowls quick yorkers. He bowls unplayable cutters. With 14 wickets at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.66, “The Fizz” has been golden for SRH this season. The SRH pace attack comprising the youngsters Bhuvi, Mustafizur and Sran and the wily old fox Nehra (who is out with a hamstring injury) has been one of the main reasons SRH find themselves in a great position in the league table. Though DD played SRH’s pace well in their first encounter this year, we are sure that The Fizz has a few tricks up his sleeve.
Karun Nair – In an otherwise unsettled DD side, Karun Nair has been a stable fixture in the middle order (only Karun, Samson and Mishra have played all 12 of Delhi’s games so far). He has accumulated 263 runs at an average of nearly 30, including 2 half-centuries. His challenge will be to find a reliable batting partner with so that he can concentrate on scoring quickly.
