IPL Fantasy Tips #10 and #11: KXIP v RPS and RCB v DD

Another double-header awaits on Sunday – KXIP v RPS followed by RCB v DD. This post will have fantasy cricket tips for both the games – fun times!

Match tip #10: KXIP v RPS

The teams: Kings XI Punjab and Rising Pune Supergiants. KXIP will be looking to come back from two losses and arrest the slide. With their powerful batting line-up misfiring, KXIP will be a worried lot. RPS also have a point to prove as MSD’s boys were thumped by his CSK protege, Raina, in their last outing. RPS still looks the more balanced side and KXIP will need to do something special if they want to stand a chance of winning this one.

The Venue: IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. In KXIP’s first match here, they were outdone by Dwayne Bravo’s mesmerising spell of seam bowling, culminating in 4-22 off 4 overs. Expect more pace, bounce and a little bit of seam.

Our picks for your fantasy cricket team

Glenn Maxwell – Perhaps a risky pick after his two failures, but Glenn Maxwell is not one to stay quiet for long. As someone who likes to dictate terms to the opposition, he will be looking to revive KXIP with an explosive performance.Expect him to come out all guns blazing against Pune’s all-Indian bowling lineup, especially with his history against R Ashwin. He can be handy with the ball too.

Faf du Plessis – Although it wasn’t enough to overcome the explosive Finch and McCullum, Faf showed sublime touch in his 69 against the Gujarat Lions. It’s also worth noting he did so at a strike rate of 160. He also made a valuable 34 in Pune’s first game. Expect him to continue his good form.

Murugan Ashwin – Our *wildcard* pick for this game, Murugan Ashwin has made a strong start to the IPL. He was widely expected to play second fiddle to the other better-known Ashwin (Ravichandran) in RPS’s bowling lineup, but MSD has given him the full quota of overs both games. M Ashwin has repaid the skipper’s trust with an economy rate below 6 and 3 wickets. His leg spin could prove tricky against the KXIP batting lineup which is filled with overseas players.

Match Tip #11: RCB v DD

The teams: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils. The batting superpowers versus the team that is perennially rebuilding itself. RCB is the only side that’s played just one game so far, but AB De Villiers and Kohli made a pretty strong statement, showing that they can deliver 200+ scores even without Gayle’s help. Both sides will be on a high off the back of victories – RCB with their great batting and DD’s thanks to the crafty leg spin of Amit Mishra.

The Venue: The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. A small ground, filled with RCB fans and a fast outfield. Expect another good batting wicket with runs aplenty; the first game here saw over 400 runs scored at over 10 runs per over!

Our picks for your fantasy cricket team

AB de Villiers – Despite a mediocre WT20 showing, ABdV needed no time to settle in to the IPL, evident from his sparkling 82 off 42 balls against a strong SRH bowling attack. Playing at the same ground, expect him to take the attack to DD’s weaker bowling attack.

Pawan Negi – DD’s surprising Million Dollar Baby, Negi was the most expensive ever uncapped buy, yet he remains a relative unknown. He showed some signs of his potential in the two – yes, two – deliveries he faced in DD’s last game, getting 8 runs including a glorious six. While his bowling could take a beating at the hands of RCB’s formidable line-up, coming in at number 4 he could make a significant statement with the bat on the small Bangalore ground.

Sarfaraz Khan – Our *wildcard* pick for this game is someone who rose to fame at age 12 for making 439 (all on his own) in a school game. Almost as though a top 4 comprised of Gayle, Kohli, ABdV and Watson wasn’t enough, Sarfaraz coming in at 5 enables RCB to make a strong final surge in the death overs. His potential shone through with his magnificent 35* off just 10 balls against SRH.
