England Test Matches

England v New Zealand, 1st test, Lords

The first test of the summer. The MCC ties will be out in force. The space-age media centre will compete for attention with the more traditional pavillion. Where technology meets tradition – Lords (new tagline, anyone?)

Was here last June (or was it July?) to watch Rahane score a fantastic hundred on a green top.

England play New Zealand tomorrow at Lords and I will be there!

A few question marks hang over England. Pietersen’s continued exile, a stand-in coach, Cook’s captaincy, Broad’s form, Anderson’s workload. Guess some of these will be answered before the Ashes. Not sure everyone will enjoy how things turn out though. Might be worth putting a tenner on Kevin Pietersen being back as skipper after the Ashes. Stranger things have happened!

New Zealand, fresh from their stunning run at the World Cup, look settled and will be  raring to go. No one would call them underdogs. Not after their brilliant test form in the last two years. New Zealand have flair (Guptill, Mc Cullum, Taylor) , class (Boult, Williamson, Southee) and fight  (Watling). And they’re used to swing and seam back home. Tough team to beat, I think!

Really hoping England bat first tomorrow so I can watch Boult and Southee with the new ball. A Lords green top like last year would spice things up as well!
