IPL Fantasy Cricket Tips #28 and #29: GL v KXIP and RPS v MI

Super Sunday at the IPL! All 8 teams in action this weekend, with Gujarat, Punjab, Pune and Mumbai playing on Sunday after an equally action-packed Saturday lineup. Check out our Fantasy League tips for you below.

Match tip #28: GL v KXIP

The teams: Super Sunday kicks off with the Gujarat Lions v Kings XI Punjab – a tale of two extremes. GL sit perched at the top of the table with only 1 loss so far this year, while KXIP languish at the bottom with only 1 win. KXIP have just missed that ‘x-factor’ which both Maxwell and Miller brought in previous seasons. GL on the other hand, have been stellar. Fun fact: 2 of the 3 centuries so far this IPL have come against the GL, yet they were both in losing causes.

The Venue: SCA Stadium, Rajkot. The last game here saw Virat Kohli’s first T20 century and a Smith-McCullum-Karthik special to chase it down. Expect another batting friendly wicket and a tough time for bowlers.

IPL Fantasy Cricket Tips #26 and #27: DD v KKR and SRH v RCB

It’s already the 3rd weekend of the IPL, which means just about half the group games are done! 2 action packed games on Saturday, DD v KKR and SRH v RCB, with all the teams pushing hard to guarantee a playoff spot.

Match tip #26: DD v KKR

The teams: Saturday kicks off with Delhi Daredevils v Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR have 8 points and have been outstanding, with their only 2 losses both against the Mumbai Indians. DD have had a great start too, picking up 3 wins from 5 games, just missing out on a 4th win against GL by 1 run. KKR will look to bounce back from a tough loss to MI, while DD are here to prove that they are here to compete.

The Venue: Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Expect another batting friendly wicket with some swing on offer. Both teams will look to put up scores of 160+.

IPL Fantasy Cricket Tips #25: RPS v GL

The teams: Rising Pune Supergiants v Gujarat Lions. Under Raina’s leadership, GL have won 5 of their 6 games; their last 2 wins came despite a Kohli century and Morris smashing a 17-ball half century, suggesting they back themselves to win no matter what the other team brings. The home side, RPS, are coming off a win against Hyderabad, however it came after 4 consecutive losses which have left lots of questions for Captain MS Dhoni. He changed his team a few times but may choose to stick to the XI that won against SRH.

The Venue: The MCA International Stadium in Pune. Pune put up 160 in the last match here which KKR chased down with ease, so the side batting first will want to push for 170+ and rely on their spinners to do the job. RPS will want to give the home fans something to cheer about.

IPL Fantasy Cricket Tip #24: MI v KKR

The teams: Mumbai Indians v Kolkata Knight Riders. East is east and west is west and the twain shall meet again! Packed with big names, both these sides have dominated the IPL in the last few years and MI v KKR is definitely one of the showcase games of the tournament. While KKR sits comfortably at the top of the table, MI is still languishing somewhere in the middle – a win against KKR could push them into the top 4. MI found some unlikely heroes in their last game against KXIP in Parthiv Patel and Ambati Rayudu, showcasing that the team doesn’t depend solely on Rohit Sharma. KKR also won their last game against RPS with Suryakumar Yadav anchoring the innings with a quick fifty and Yusuf Pathan and Andre Russell doing the big hitting.

The Venue: Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MI won their last game here against RCB and although the first couple of games had scores around the 120-140 range, the last game played here saw close to 350 runs being scored over 40 overs. Expect both captains to prefer batting second, as has been the theme in this year’s IPL.

IPL Fantasy Cricket Tip #23: DD v GL

The teams: Delhi Daredevils v Gujarat Lions. Both teams have done well in the tournament so far, having lost just one game each. GL took advantage of Kohli’s decision to bat first in their last game to chase down a large total against RCB. The Dwayne Smith – Brendon McCullum combination was back together at the top for GL and recreated the damage they had done while opening the batting in yellow for CSK. DD has been the surprise of the tournament so far. With 3 wins in a row, their mentor Rahul Dravid will be pleased as DD haven’t managed to achieve this in the last 4 years. The DD v GL contest will be interesting – while GL seem to have the best batting line up, DD’s bowlers have done really well in the tournament so far.

The Venue: Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. This ground historically favours the chasing team and the side batting first will look to post at least 150 on this ground. In the last game, both Amit Mishra and Imran Tahir did well, both in terms of wickets as well as economy rate so expect the spinners to play an important role.
