IPL Fantasy Cricket Tip #24: MI v KKR

The teams: Mumbai Indians v Kolkata Knight Riders. East is east and west is west and the twain shall meet again! Packed with big names, both these sides have dominated the IPL in the last few years and MI v KKR is definitely one of the showcase games of the tournament. While KKR sits comfortably at the top of the table, MI is still languishing somewhere in the middle – a win against KKR could push them into the top 4. MI found some unlikely heroes in their last game against KXIP in Parthiv Patel and Ambati Rayudu, showcasing that the team doesn’t depend solely on Rohit Sharma. KKR also won their last game against RPS with Suryakumar Yadav anchoring the innings with a quick fifty and Yusuf Pathan and Andre Russell doing the big hitting.

The Venue: Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. MI won their last game here against RCB and although the first couple of games had scores around the 120-140 range, the last game played here saw close to 350 runs being scored over 40 overs. Expect both captains to prefer batting second, as has been the theme in this year’s IPL.

Our picks for your fantasy cricket team

Rohit Sharma – (In)Famous for not converting starts into big scores, Rohit’s 2016 tournament so far has been a mixed bag. While he has scored three 50s batting second, he also has 4 scores in the single digits while batting first. While there is no denying that he can single-handedly win a match for his team, the Hitman will be looking to set the record straight while batting first.

Shakib Al Hasan – Shakib bats. Shakib bowls. And more often that not, he shines with both bat and ball. His wicked delivery to get rid of Du Plessis in the last game is ample proof of his bowling skills and his aggressive batting at number 4 is just the icing on your fantasy cake. Make sure you pick him!

Suryakumar Yadav – Our *wildcard* pick for this game, Suryakumar Yadav justified his captain’s decision in pushing him up the order against RPS. Yadav knew he had to step up at number 3 and he did just that with a quickfire fifty. With Manish Pandey out for a few games, he will want to cement his batting position in KKR’s top order so we expect him to well again.
