IPL Fantasy Cricket Tip #7: DD v KXIP

The teams: Delhi Daredevils v Kings XI Punjab. Both franchises have been around since the IPL in 2008 and both had opening matches they would like to put behind them very quickly. DD has received a lot of criticism of their team selection, particularly for leaving out JP Duminy and Imran Tahir in favour of Chris Morris and Nathan Coulter-Nile. They may choose to rely on Zaheer and Shami for pace, and bring in Tahir for added spin power. KXIP’s team selection looked alright, but they will need their powerhouses Glenn Maxwell and skipper Miller to fire.

The Venue: Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. The Daredevils have not really been able to establish Kotla as a fortress; this ground historically favours the chasing team. The side batting first will look to post at least 150 on this ground.

Our picks for your fantasy cricket team

Marcus Stoinis – This lesser-known Aussie will look to establish himself as Punjab’s answer to Shane Watson. He can bat high up, and chipped in with a hand 33 off 22 balls in their opening game and took a wicket with his nippy seamers.

Amit Mishra – Though Mishra was overlooked for national selection, let’s not forget that he is the only player in the history of the IPL to have taken hat-tricks on 3 separate occasions. On his day, he can run through any batting line up.

Pardeep Sahu – Our wildcard pick for today is yet another lesser known Indian leg spinner. Sahu was not widely expected to make the playing XI for Punjab, but he used flight and guile beautifully to pick up the critical wicket of a well set Aaron Finch in KXIP’s opening game against the Gujarat Lions.
