IPL Fantasy Cricket Tips #55 and 56: KKR v SRH & RCB v DD

It’s all to play for! The last Super Sunday until next year’s IPL sees two stupendous games – KKR v SRH and RCB v DD. While most people are facing fantasy fatigue, some of you will be worried about getting fantasy withdrawal symptoms. Make the most of the last 6 games of the tournament!

Match tip #55: KKR v SRH

KKR find themselves in a must-win situation and they will look to their opening pair to fire them through to the top 4. The Uthappa – Gambhir partnership was really solid up front but has not really clicked in the last few games. For SRH, Warner would want to push the pedal to the metal to ensure his team ends up in the top 2 so that they give themselves at least two opportunities to make it to the final.

The Venue: Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The surface is slow and the spinners can expect to find some joy. KKR has won 3 and lost 3 games here this season and will be looking to make amends after their last loss to RCB here.

Our picks for your fantasy team

Piyush Chawla: It might come as a surprise, but PC has quietly worked his way up to become KKR’s 2nd highest wicket taker in IPL 2016, behind only Andre Russell. Though he can sometimes be expensive, Gambhir relies heavily on Piyush to pick up critical wickets. Recently Piyush has also been promoted up the batting order so he would be a good fantasy pick.

David Warner – Our pick once again. Scoring a crucial 73 in the last game he is still in terrific form. He is the first overseas captain to score over 600 runs in an IPL season and is still a sure shot fantasy pick (although Kohli’s form surely has put him out of the running for the Orange Cap).

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar – Bhuvi has been a mainstay in the SRH bowling line-up. He has not had a great 12 months in international cricket but his perfromances have stood out in this IPL, bowling along side veteran Nehra and upcoming superstar – The Fizz. SRH will be looking to Bhuvi to provide early breakthroughs and stop the flow of runs from KKR’s strong opening pair.

Match Tip #56: RCB vs DD

The teams: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Delhi Daredevils. The last game of the playoffs. The last game of the league stage is virtually a quarter final – could it get any better than this? Both RCB and DD are on 14 points and a win for either team will take them into the top 4. DD will be looking to stop the run machine Kohli but will also be very aware that Gayle, ABDV and Watson follow him in the RCB line-up. RCB have been on a winning spree and what seemed unachievable 3 weeks back is a real possibility now. Kohli seems to have taken it upon himself to get them through, knowing that his bowling line up is one of the weakest in the tournament. Remember the last time these two teams met we saw a QDK special where DD emerged victorious.

The Venue: Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur. The ‘second home’ stadium of the Daredevils, DD will be hoping their luck changes here. There might be some grass on the wicket given it is Raipur’s second IPL game this year, but we still expect a flat track that will help the batsmen.

Our picks for your fantasy team

Virat Kohli – Virat Kohli has been phenomenal this year. He is unstoppable. He scored his 4th hundred in a rain-interrupted 15 over game against KXIP and is batting at a whole new level. Stitches or no stitches – expect some fireworks as he looks to lead RCB into the top 4. DD will need to get rid of him early to stand any chance of winning.

Chris Gayle: With two substantial contributions in the last two games, “The Gaylestorm” is back in business. Everybody knows Chris Gayle is a Champion! Need we say anything more?

Karun Nair – Karun Nair – who along with Samson and Mishra are the only players to play all 12 of Delhi’s games so far – has been a stable fixture in the middle order. He has made 3 half-centuries including a match-winning knock against SRH to keep DD’s hopes alive in the tournament. He bats in the DD top 3 so is a safe fantasy pick.
