IPL Fantasy Tip #16 – RPS v RCB

The teams: Rising Pune Supergiants v Royal Challengers Bangalore. Dhoni v Virat. RPS want to forget their last game against GL, which they lost by 7 wickets. Although Faf Du Plessis has played his part in all 3 games, Dhoni will be hoping that both KP and Steve Smith find their mojo as their success is crucial to RPS’s campaign. RCB will also want to get back to winning ways after their loss to MI on Wednesday. Two consecutive losses will not please the RCB skipper, Virat Kohli.

The Venue: The MCA International Stadium in Pune. Pune will host its first game of the IPL 2016 on Friday and RPS will be looking to make an impact in front of its home crowd. This venue has not held any test matches and has hosted only 1 ODI and 2 T20s. The most recent match played here was a T20 between SL and India where a young Sri Lankan pace attack stunned the strong Indian batting line up. If that match is anything to go by, expect a quick track!

Our picks for your fantasy cricket team

Shane Watson – He can bat. He can bowl. And he can field. In our view, Watto is certainly one of the best all rounders the T20 game has seen in the last 10 years. Combining a nagging line and length with clever pace variations, Watto has already been the pick of the RCB bowlers. Add to that his explosive top order batting capability and Watson is a must-have for all fantasy teams. He had a quiet game against MI and will be looking to make up for that.

Kevin Pietersen – While Faf has stolen the show in the first 3 games, we believe KP will be itching to get back into the limelight. Batting at number 3, he has enough overs to settle in and accelerate towards the end. He has shown glimpses of his brilliance but hasn’t been able to convert his starts – this game might just be the time for him to shine.

Sarfaraz Khan – Our *wildcard* pick for today, Sarfaraz Khan’s batting has impressed one and all, including his RCB skipper Virat Kohli. His recent cameo of of 28 in 18 balls  against MI further stated his ability to hit boundaries towards the end of the innings. We believe he can be a true match winner, for RCB now and for India in the future.
