IPL Fantasy Cricket Tip #21: KXIP v MI

The teams: Kings XI Punjab v Mumbai Indians. Despite having played more games than any other team, the current champions MI are in 6th place with just 2 wins from 6 games, while KXIP are at the bottom of the table with 1 win from 5. Both sides came into the 2016 IPL with a lot of expectations, and although it’s still early in the tournament, they will both need to execute a turnaround quickly if they want a chance to make the knockout stage. Unfortunately, only one team will breathe a sigh of relief after KXIP v MI. Expect both sides to tinker with their playing XI as they search for the perfect combination.

The Venue: IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Traditionally a wicket which assists seamers, M Ashwin, Sunil Narine, and Pardeep Sahu have all taken wickets here this year, suggesting another spin-friendly wicket is in store for us.

Our picks for your fantasy cricket team

Rohit Sharma – Just like Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, the talented Rohit Sharma has led from the front this IPL. With 3 half centuries in his first 6 matches, including an anchoring knock of 65 against DD, Rohit has proven himself a reliable batsman for MI. He now needs to focus on getting the best out of his teammates.

Shaun Marsh – Though it’s hard to pick any one standout KXIP player in IPL 2016, Shaun Marsh has been batting well in the last 2 games. With scores of 56 and 40, he brings strength to the top order. In the game against KKR, he alone made more than 40% of the teams runs, which says a lot about the other KXIP batsmen. He will need support from the other KXIP batsman.

Krunal Pandya – Our wildcard pick for this game, Hardik’s lesser known brother Krunal Pandya continues to impress. In a losing cause against Delhi, he was once again their most economical bowler and if not for being run out on 36 off just 17 balls, he looked set to take Mumbai to victory.
