IPL Fantasy Cricket Tips #30: RCB v KKR

The teams: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders. Two teams with captains who have played together for the Delhi, now leading other cities in the IPL. Both teams have had 2 consecutive losses, and as we get closer to the business end of this tournament, Kohli and Gambhir need this win on Monday. Kohli will be feeling the frustration with his bowlers; he won the toss and benched Gayle in favour of 2 overseas bowlers, yet his bowlers still leaked 195. 9 of the 12 bowlers RCB have tried so far this year have an economy rate of 9+, which is worrying.

The Venue: The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. A small ground, filled with RCB fans and a fast outfield. Expect another good batting wicket with runs aplenty; one game here saw over 400 runs scored at over 10 runs per over!

Our picks for your fantasy cricket team

Virat Kohli – 2016 seems to be Kohli’s year in terms of T20 cricket. His consistency has been phenomenal and in the last game against SRH, he would have been disappointed to get one of his lowest scores in recent games. KKR has a very experienced bowling line up and Kohli will have to bat as long as possible allowing the others around him to play their natural game.

Andre Russell- T20 cricket’s hottest property, picking Russell is a no brainer. With Morne Morkel being rested, it seems likely that Russell will open the bowling and he has shown a knack of picking up early wickets. He is destructive down the batting order, almost giving DD a last minute scare. Let’s hope he is promoted up the order and gets to spend some time in the middle.

Sarfaraz Khan – Our wildcard pick for this game is someone who rose to fame at age 12 for making 439 (all on his own) in a school game. Almost as though a top 4 comprised of Gayle, Kohli, ABdV and Watson wasn’t enough, Sarfaraz coming in at 5 enables RCB to make a strong final surge in the death overs. Kohli has been all praise for Sarfaraz and if there is a batting collapse, it is a great opportunity for Sarfaraz to step up and show his class against the likes of Narine, Yadav, Russell – all international bowlers!
